Abstract
The Department of Energy (DOE) recently funded a project (DE-EE0003848) to implement a computer model for a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump in the DOE's EnergyPlus™ whole building energy simulation software (EnergyPlus 2012). This report describes the evolution of the EnergyPlus VRF computer model. In addition, this report discusses simulation results and a comparison of the computer model to actual measured field data collected during the previous DOE project.
