Abstract
The Department of Energy (DOE) recently funded a project (DE-EE0003848) to implement a computer model for a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump in the DOE's EnergyPlusTM whole building energy simulation software (EnergyPlus 2012). This report describes the evolution of the EnergyPlus VRF computer model. In addition, this report discusses simulation results and a comparison of the computer model to actual measured field data collected during the previous DOE project.
