J. Boyd Bruce III graduated from Florida State University in 1988 with a BS in History and a minor in Archaeology. He went on to complete graduate school in 1990 with a Masters in Library Science from FSU specializing in Public Library Administration. His career has taken him to Mississippi, North and South Carolina and three different systems here Florida. Over the course of the past twenty-one years, Boyd has worked principally in library administration. His strengths are in planning, budgeting and customer service training. Boyd has renovated six different libraries, developed award winning customer service models, and been a principle mover in promoting public access computers and electronic services everywhere he has worked. Boyd's worked has been recognized by the Florida Library Association in 2006 for the FORUM customer service model and 2007 for Website design while working as the Assistant Director in Osceola County. In 2009, Boyd came to work for Lake County and currently serves as the Assistant Director for Public Services managing six branch libraries. He also serves as the Regional Branch Manager for Cooper Memorial Library in Clermont, a joint use facility serving Lake County residents, Lake Sumter Community College and University of Central Florida students.
