Apollo 7 Command Module Pilot Donn F. Eisele, left, and Commander Walter M. Schirra, Jr., right, hold humorous sign during their first television transmission from their orbiting spacecraft, which also carried Lunar Module Pilot Walter Cunningham, not shown. The transmission was received by the Manned Space Flight Network tracking station at the Kennedy Space Center during the spacecraft's 45th revolution of the Earth. The transmission was relayed by satellite to Europe. The three astronauts were launched by a Saturn IB rocket from Cape Kennedy October 11 to verify the Apollo spacecraft system for future lunar voyages.
