Photo Description
This wide-angle photograph covers an area of roughly 450 by 620 miles within the bright area, Deucalionis Regio, of Mars. The abundance of craters is highly similar to parts of the Moon's surface. Craters discernible on this photo range in diameter from roughly 80 miles to 3 miles and exhibit various degrees of preservation from fresh to barely discernible. A few seem to possess central peaks and at least partly polygonal outlines.
