One of the three Apollo 12 astronauts is assisted aboard a recovery helicopter in a Billy Pugh rescue net following splashdown in the Pacific Ocean at 3:58 p.m. EST, November 24, 1969, approximately 350 nautical miles southeast of Samoa. The astronauts performed the Nation's second manned lunar landing mission. (The inflated bags at the spacecraft righted it to an upright position after it impacted apex down.)
