    Photo Description

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. Technicians complete installation of a replacement for one of eight damaged stabilization fins from the first stage of the Saturn IB rocket slated to launch the Skylab 4 mission. Hairline cracks, found during routine inspection, caused a delay in launch and subsequent replacement of the old fins. Skylab 4 astronauts Gerald P. Carr, Dr. Edward G. Gibson, and William R. Pogue are scheduled to ride the booster to the Orbital Workshop for a 59-day or longer stay in Earth orbit.
