SKYLAB 4 ONBOARD PHOTOGRAPHY -- This photo of Louisiana, Gulf Coast area, Vermilion Lake, Bayou Teche, and oil well fire smoke trails extending 200 miles out over the Gulf, was taken during the Skylab 4 mission. The astronauts were launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., from Complex 39B on November 16, 1973. The crew, Astronauts Gerald P. Carr, mission commander; Dr. Edward G. Gibson, science pilot; and William R. Pogue, pilot, splashed down approximately 283 kilometers (176 statute miles) southwest of San Diego, Calif., on February 8, 1974.
