SKYLAB 4 ONBOARD PHOTOGRAPHY -- This photo of Japan -- Island of Hokkaido, La Perouse Strait, and ice flows -- was taken during the Skylab 4 mission. The astronauts were launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Fla., from Complex 39B on November 16, 1973. The crew, Astronauts Gerald P. Carr, mission commander; Dr. Edward G. Gibson, science pilot; and William R. Pogue, pilot, splashed down approximately 283 kilometers (176 statute miles) southwest of San Diego, Calif., on February 8, 1974.
