    Photo Description

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. Technicians remove first of eight damaged stabilization fins from first stage of the Skylab 4 Saturn IB rocket at Launch Complex 39B. Cracks, discovered during a routine inspection, prompted rescheduling of NASA's last manned launch to the orbiting space station to no earlier than November 15, 1973. Astronauts Gerald P. Carr, Dr. Edward G. Gibson and William R. Pogue are scheduled to spend 60 days aloft, and possibly 85, if ground controllers give them the go-ahead.
