Description of Services
Healthy Start Services provides maternal and child health services to improve pregnancy outcomes. The services are free to pregnant women, women between pregnancies and for babies from birth to age three. This service includes assistance in finding a prenatal care provider, MomCare Choice counseling, prenatal education and support, newborn care education and support, in-home assessments, care coordination and support, breastfeeding education and support, childbirth education, parenting education including happiest baby on the block workshops, workshops for expectant fathers (Boot Camp for New Dads), car seat safety education and checkpoints, nutrition education, help to quit smoking, supportive counseling and referrals to other community resources.
