Title
Technology And The Liberal Arts: Some Observations From Cutha.
Abstract
The Council for the Understanding of Technology in Human Affairs (CUTHA) was founded in 1979 by a group of engineering educators and industrial representatives who were interested in courses and programs which dealt with technological topics for non-technology students. CUTHA was aware of the existence of the many STS (Science, Technology, and Society) programs, but also knew that many of these dealt primarily with societal impact, and often with little regard for, or understanding of, the engineering and technological boundary constraints. The author has been involved with CUTHA since its inception and has been the Program Chair for the 4 conferences listed. This paper gives some informal observations based on these experiences over these past few years.
