Title
Numerical Study Of The Drag And Heat Transfer Characteristics Of A Wedge In Film Boiling Flow
Abstract
Results are reported from a numerical study of the skin friction and heat transfer characteristics of a horizontal wedge during forced-convection film boiling. Full boundary layer equations are considered and attention is focused on the water-steam system at atmospheric pressure. As the pressure gradient becomes more favorable, skin friction at the wall is found to increase. Decreasing the subcooling of the liquid translates the skin-friction curves towards lower wall superheats. Both the pressure gradient and the subcooling of the liquid are found to enhance the heat transfer.
