Title
Natural Convection In A Heated Parallel Plate Vertical Channel; Influence Of Inlet Conditions
Abstract
A computational study of free convective flows in a heated vertical parallel plate channel has been performed. The effects of uniform or parabolic inlet velocity profile and a Bernoulli inlet pressure defect on developing velocity and temperature profiles and local and overall average Nusselt numbers are analyzed for a wide range of Rayleigh numbers. Both symmetric and asymmetric uniform wall surface temperature and uniform wall heat flux are considered. In brief, the results indicate that inlet conditions have little influence on the channel thermal performance at low Rayleigh numbers but moderately influences the local Nusselt number at high Rayleigh numbers.
