Title

Real-time systems education: an introduction

Abstract

This introduction presents an historical perspective on teaching real-time systems courses - first, in the 1980's and then in the 1990's. Next, it discusses individual contributions to this volume that have been grouped into five categories: individual courses on real-time systems, real-time curricula, teaching real-time systems at Embry-Riddle, applying formal methods in teaching real-time systems, and real-time systems in systems engineering and control engineering curricula.
