Title
All-fiber connectorized fiber-optic delay module using 3-D polarization optics
Abstract
An all-fiber connectorized microlens fiber-port based ultracompact photonic delay line (PDL) using 3-D polarization optics is demonstrated, along with a simple and inexpensive technique using lower frequency instrumentation for viewing time delays. The PDL feed link is formed by a microwave fiber optic transmitter and receiver. The modulated light is coupled to the PDL via a link single mode fiber connected to the PDL polarization maintaining fiber, and is collimated using a microlens. The PDL optical insertion loss was measured at 5.8 dB, while that for the nondelay path was at 7.8 dB. These values are expected to be balanced by placing all fiber ports on the same bench.
