20 × 5 Gbit/s optical WDM transmitter using single-stripe multiwavelength modelocked semiconductor laser
Abstract
A 20 wavelength optical WDM transmitter capable of transmitting 12ps pulses at 5Gbit/s for an aggregate rate of 100Gbit/s has been experimentally demonstrated, based on a modelocked semiconductor laser. Temporal synchronisation and wideband spectral correlation between the multiwavelength pulses are also achieved.
