Title
Low interchannel crosstalk high speed fiber optic N×N crossconnect switch using polarization optics and ferroelectric liquid crystals
Abstract
The use of polarization optics combined with ferroelectric liquid crystals to build a N×N switch for optical crossconnects is discussed. The N×N switches are designed as a low interchannel crosstalk, low loss, fast switching speed, polarization independent, reversible, and scalable switch for optical crossconnect applications. Passive and active noise filtering techniques are used to suppress the interchannel crosstalk caused by the imperfection of the cube polarization beam splitters and the ferroelectric liquid crystal devices.
