Title

Summary Of The Publishing Trends Of The Journal Of Human Factors From 1988-1997

Abstract

Continuing prior analysis to determine the characteristics of HFES publications, this paper provides a descriptive investigation of the articles contained within Human Factors, the official journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society between the years of 1988-1997. No attempt was made by the authors to determine the quality of the 511 articles included in the analysis but provided is a descriptive summary along the following characteristics: period of publication, year of publication, institution classification of lead author, affiliation of lead author, country from which lead author resides, and the topical area of the article. The results are compared to a similar analysis examining the same variables for the presentations at the HFES Annual Meeting for the same period (Hitt, 1998).
