Title
Hierarchical Order Of Gene Expression Levels
Keywords
Expression order; Gene expression
Abstract
With an overwhelming amount of expression data available, many interesting problems have been studied, such as identifying cancer signatures, constructing gene regulatory networks, analyzing activity of pathways, and so on. Here we show another fascinating aspect of using expression data, construcing the hierarchical order of gene expression levels. We found that there is an order of expression levels in human genes, which enables genes to be more co-expressed than genes without the order of expression levels. This hierarchical order will not only change our view of gene variations in cancers, but also revolutionize our understanding of biological systems. © 2010 IEEE.
