Title
Effects Of Stress On Alumina Nanocomposites Using Piezospectroscopy
Abstract
Stress measurement using the photo-stimulated luminescence spectroscopy technique, or piezospectroscopy, is the focus of this work on epoxy specimens with embedded alumina nanoparticles. Specimens with varying volume fractions of alumina nanoparticles were manufactured and their spectral data analyzed using photo-stimulated luminescence spectroscopy (PSLS). The specimens exhibit luminescence as seen from the R-line peaks obtained from spectral measurements. Established theoretical stress measurement models developed for bulk polycrystalline alumina are used to assess residual stresses in these specimens. The study highlights the potential of piezospectroscopy as a non-invasive stress measurement method for alumina-epoxy nanocomposite systems.
