Abstract
The paper investigates the problems of placement of antennas on complex platform to realize the desired impedance and radiation patterns using the Characteristic mode analysis (CMA) as well as the Characteristic Basis Function technique. A comparison of the two techniques is presented when they are applied to two real-world examples, namely a mobile phone and the topside of a ship.
