Description
Mary Rubin interviews Trey Gordon, who graduated from UCF in 1996, via Zoom about the impact of UCF on his life. Trey participated in ROTC, Greek life, cheerleading, and school spirit endeavors while he attended university. He elaborates on his participation in creating UCF’s animated mascot, Knightro, and what it takes to be a mascot. He also speaks about the homecoming pep rally that took place in 1994, during which he encouraged everyone to jump into the Reflecting Pond. Although the Spirit Splash event was not named until 1997, the 1994 pep rally may be the origin for the event that has become a long-standing tradition at UCF. He talks at length about his and his fellow students’ endeavors to create tradition on campus, which includes Spirit Patrol and the Spirit Cup.
