Entry to St. Luke's Church Property 1991
View of the main entry to St. Luke's Lutheran Church from SR 426, as it appeared in 1991. Note that the white building to the south of the church was the former parsonage...which was used (in 1991) as the church office. This scene was to change very drastically within a few months of the taking of this photo: the parsonage was moved away, the transepts constructed in 1957 were demolished and the original 1939 structure (though it remained standing) underwent radical alterations.

Expansion and remodeling of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. 1957
In 1957, the members of St. Luke's dedicated their newly expanded and remodeled faciilty. The small brick church erected in 1939 was no longer large enough for the congregation's needs, so that structure was elongated and two large transepts were added to create a "cruciform shape" for the facility. Some of the earliest images of the new addition were likely taken even before the dedication of the worship space on May 5, 1957.

The gutted structure was then boarded up, awaiting extensive remodeling at the completion of the building project. The 1939 facility was then used as a chapel and was connected to the new sanctuary by a narthex area.
