Mary McLeod Bethune with Mary Church Terrell
A black and white image of Mary McLeod Bethune, left, and Mary Church Terrell, right. Mary Church Terrell was a writer and an internationally known civil and women's rights activist. She was the first black woman to serve on the Washington, D.C. Board of Education and was the first president of the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs. She was also a founding member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). In this image, Mary McLeod Bethune can be seen shaking Mrs. Terrell's hand. Mrs. Bethune is wearing a dark colored dress and is holding a piece of paper in her left hand. Mrs. Terrell is on the right, and is wearing a dress and a corsage. In front of them is a microphone, and in the background can be seen an unidentified woman and a chair. Masaryktown Slovaks Visit St. Luke's. c. 1960
More than 30 visitors from a Slovak Lutheran congregation in Masaryktown, FL traveled to Slavia (c.1960) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ministry of Rev. Stephen M. Tuhy with a gathering on the church picnic grounds following the festival worship service. Pastor Tuhy, standing at far left, had ministered to the small congregation in Masaryktown for several years... traveling to their church to conduct services on Sunday afternoons or for other special occasions. Others in the photo are unidentified.

U.S. Pat.Off.andand and: Mayfair Hotel located on the banks of hte St. John's River at Sanford, a city of 11,000 people, directly connected with the ocean through an 8- foot channel on the St. John's River. Also on the back, a one cent stamp and a ink stamping that reads: Benson Junction, Fla. Mar. 18, p.m. 1947. The postcard is card stock with a linen finish.

The St. Luke's school library was one of several spaces used for committee meetings during the period when the preparations for the expansion of the worship facility took place. The demolition of the brick church for this purpose mandated that the congregation use other spaces on campus as creatively as possible until the new building was completed. Memorial Stadium
