Participant Guide
Session Formats
As you are preparing your talk, please keep in mind the format in which you submitted. Because of the large number of excellent submissions and our goal of including as many voices in the field as possible, the sessions are scheduled tightly, and we ask that you plan ahead to make the most of your time based on the format:
- Individual papers and performances are 10–12 minutes each to allow time for Q&A. Papers are grouped into one-hour blocks with related papers as best we could, so please respect the time limit to ensure every presenter in your block has their full time and the audience has a chance to ask questions.
- Workshops and panels are 60 minutes total. Panel organizers should plan their internal timing to leave room for discussion, and workshop leaders should structure activities to fit comfortably within the hour.
All sessions will have a moderator and/or track chair available for assistance, including keeping sessions on schedule.
Tracks & Zoom Links
The conference runs in three tracks, each with its own Zoom link, running throughout the conference:
The exception is plenaries and featured events, which all take place in the Algorithms & Imaginaries Zoom track. You can also browse the combined schedule for all sessions across tracks.
Zoom links will be distributed along with the ELO Discord info on Monday, July 13, prior to the conference. Links will be sent directly by peter.edgar (at) ucf.edu — if you have not received your links by Tuesday, please check your spam folder. If you still cannot find them, contact that email to receive a copy.
Please do not post Zoom links publicly or share them with non-participants. Keeping links private helps protect our sessions from potential harassment and Zoombombing.
During Sessions
We encourage participants to use the text chat to comment and discuss during presentations, and to send questions for presenters to answer during the Q&A. The ELO Discord is also available to continue conversations after the session ends.
Turning on your camera on Zoom is up to you.
For Presenters
All participants presenting will be given the ability to share their screens. Presenters are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before their session's scheduled start time to test their materials, particularly if including audio or video.
Registration
Registration closes end of day July 10 (AOE). All live participants must be members of ELO.
Recordings
As per the registration terms, all sessions will be recorded and made available open access in an ongoing repository. Videos will be announced and shared throughout the conference as they become available.
