General Submission Rules

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in the Journal of the Association for Communication Administration provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to Journal of the Association for Communication Administration, the author(s) is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at Journal of the Association for Communication Administration. If you have concerns about the submission terms for Journal of the Association for Communication Administration, please contact the editors.

Submission and Formatting Requirements

All submissions to the Journal of the Association for Communication Administration must follow the formatting requirements of the most recent edition of the APA style guide. All references must include accurate and linked Digital Object Identifiers. There are, however, additional rules governing the formatting of submissions. Please see the instructions for authors for details. Although JACA may provide limited technical support, it is ultimately the responsibility of the author to produce an electronic version of the article as a high-quality Microsoft Word file that can be converted to a PDF file.

It is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure all images, figures and tables, follow the format requirements. Moreover, it is the responsibility of the author(s) to ensure all images have the needed permissions for use or are the property of the author(s). The act of submitting any image, table, or figure is an indication that all needed permissions have been obtained and cleared by the author(s).

Authors are asked to create an ORCID before submitting a manuscript. ORCID provides a unique digital identifier that distinguishes authors. Information on how to create an ID can be found at the ORCID website.

If the authors cannot or choose not to comply with the submission requirements, JACA will remove the manuscript from publication and return the copyright to the author(s).

It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no (and can be no) guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.
