As a general rule, it seems that philosophers are not particularly fond of assessment. Why is this? In this paper I shall attempt to address these questions by extending a discussion initiated by holistic educators Sharon Solloway and Nancy Brooks in their paper, “Philosophical Hermeneutics and Assessment.”
