Description/Abstract
The University of Central Florida (UCF) is one of ten universities that in 2006 was designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a leadership institution in the Carnegie Academy for the Scholar- ship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL). The institutions that comprise the CASTL group seek to foster and encourage the scholarship of teaching and learning as it pertains to undergraduate research. This paper describes the CASTL program and outlines the focus of the CASTL undergraduate research group; describes UCF’s rationale for applying for the CASTL designation; and addresses UCF’s contributions to date to the CASTL undergraduate research theme.
