Description/Abstract
As educators, we wish to see our students change and become more sophisticated in their approaches to understanding our disciplines. We want them to develop procedural understandings of how current conclusions were reached, the limitations of those conclusions, and the opportunities for further exploration and deeper understanding. In this workshop, we will consider modifications that can be introduced in otherwise conventional courses so that students can learn to do original work. We will also discuss how grassroots efforts can be supported and scaled to influence the entire curriculum.
