Description/Abstract
In Fall 2012, as FAU’s Quality Enhancement Plan emerged, a Freshmen Learning Community course--Learning Strategy & Human --integrated research into the curriculum. During the class, we raised their curiosity, exposed them to challenges our society would face, encouraged hard work, pursued knowledge and collaborative learning, and lead them to the path of “Distinction through Discovery.” After completing the course, three female students began their research. They have all had their posters presented at major conferences, one has written a paper, and they are currently working on journal publications. This is the story of their journey.
