Description/Abstract

Three classroom formats preparing STEM undergraduates for successful participation in research have been developed as a collaborative effort between three universities. The three formats include a semester course, a one week faculty led course, and a 2.5 day peer mentor led short course. All formats are intended to reach first-year, second-year, or early transfer students. The investigators are teaching each course format at their respective institution while preparing a set of best practices and evaluating costs associated with each format. To date, the team has impacted hundreds of students and a web site is under development for disseminating project information.
