Description/Abstract

Following on from the success of the all-directors meeting on data at the 2023 Florida Statewide Symposium, this session will enable participants to discuss and share solutions for key issues facing all offices of undergraduate research across the state. Ronnie Mack will instruct in the participants in how to turn discussions into actionable solutions, and then participants will choose a table based on the issue they would most like to discuss. The tables' topics will include:

  • Funding: How have you funded your undergraduate research initiatives (or do you have effective initiatives that cost minimal amounts to set up)? How can we redirect funding towards students to enable more students to undertake research, regardless of their financial background?
  • Transfer Initiatives: How can we make sure that transfer students who move from 2-year to 4-year institutions make the most of research opportunities?
  • Under-represented populations:How can we reverse historical trends and make sure that all student groups have equal access to research?
