Description/Abstract

This presentation examines the strategic use of video content, particularly Instagram/Facebook Reels and YouTube videos, to boost awareness and engagement with undergraduate research programs and resources offered through the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement (CRE). Leveraging the popularity of videos among younger audiences, our approach involves creating dynamic, visually appealing content to enhance outreach efforts. For instance, video Reels have been effectively used to promote CRE events and as part of recruiting materials offering a more engaging alternative to static images.

The impact of these video initiatives has proven significant for our office. Data from recent social media campaigns shows a dramatic increase in reach and interaction. These results highlight the effectiveness of video content in capturing the attention of younger generations and driving engagement. By utilizing YouTube videos, reels, and other dynamic formats, we have enhanced visibility and engagement for our undergraduate research programs.

Lastly, we will explore these strategies and their outcomes, demonstrating how video content can be leveraged to increase program awareness and student participation. This presentation will also explore strategies for future growth in video content, demonstrating its role in increasing visibility and driving participation in undergraduate research programs. We will also touch on ways offices can create in-house video content as well as working with other offices such as University Communications to create more polished videos that provide general program information/descriptions.
