Description/Abstract

This workshop is designed to empower you to quickly launch an undergraduate research program based on an innovative paradigm in which participants in a research leadership program create opportunities for undergraduates to engage in authentic collaborative research projects. You will be introduced to fundamental principles that lead to minimizing administrative overhead, maximizing benefits to stakeholders, generating support across administrative units, and overcoming barriers to participation. You will be introduced to a set of strategies you can adapt to address your institution’s unique assets and constraints, to further its mission, vision, and values. You will be provided with resources to articulate the value proposition of your program, address common concerns, and efficiently address logistical challenges. You will be invited to form active partnerships with other workshop participants and a growing number of institutions across the nation to share infrastructure, emerging evidence-based practices, and access to cross-institutional leadership programs. Ultimately, you will leave with concrete plans to influence, motivate, and empower stakeholders to join a community supporting a large, inexpensive, and inclusive undergraduate research program.
