About the Author

Thank you to the LEAD Scholar program and Professor Mercado for this opportunity to present a passion project of mine. I am a Latin America, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies student at the University of Central Florida. For my entire life, I have struggled with self-identity and the lack of the ability to self-identify on necessary documentation that will ultimately define my successes in life in one way or another. I hope this project makes others aware of gaps in racial/ethnic identifiers and that improvements are continually being made to promote ultimate inclusion.
