Back by popular demand, Barbra Bowden and Thea Sargent will share their own personal insights as to how female leaders build and manage teams in the fast-paced and competitive hospitality industry. Discussions will touch on strengthening your management style and overall effectiveness. The pair will also focus on how to rebrand your skill set late in your hospitality career to showcase and highlight your capabilities and professionalism.

Biography

Barbara Bowden is the Complex Managing Director for Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, a position she has held since October 2015. She oversees the operation of these two resort hotels, comprising 2,000 rooms and nearly 250,000 square feet of connected meeting space which make up the Loews Meeting Complex at Universal Orlando. Prior to joining Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando, Bowden served as general manager of the Orange County Convention Center, the second largest convention and tradeshow facility in the United States. Before that, she spent 27 years with The Peabody Orlando, starting as a front desk supervisor and worked her way through the ranks to become general manager in 2010, and then vice president in 2013.

Thea Sargent, a 34-year veteran of The Walt Disney Company, is currently the General Manager, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. She is currently championing the Disney Vacation Club expansion, as well as several resort refurbishments including resort room renovations, new Food and Beverage and Recreational offerings.

For the past two years, Thea was the Executive Director, Domestic Destination Sales responsible for Military, Wholesale, On-Line Travel Agents, Corporate, Retail and Local Market Sales. She led a bi-coastal team of six Sales Directors responsible for admissions and room night goals for Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani and Disney Cruise Lines.
