School exterior and entrance. c.late 1990s
Several images taken during the late 1990s show the main entrance and west exterior of St. Luke's Lutheran School. Visible in all images is a rustic wood cross (provenance unknown) affixed to one of the main columns. One of the images is a group photo (c.1996)of four Principals who had served the school since its founding in 1947. Left to right: Donald Eicholtz, Susan Hanas, Elmer Bellhorn and Robert Flesch. After the construction of a new school in 2000, the buildings shown in images were eventually used to accommodate the Pre-K program. In 2016, Mrs. Hanas retired, having served as both Principal and then Superintendent of the school for many years (herself, an alum of St. Luke's school). In appreciation of her dedicated service, the Pre-K faculty presented her with the old wooden cross, as a fitting memento of her dedication to the Christian education of St. Luke's children

SELC District 100th Anniversary Celebration

In 2003, the SELC District consisted of 58 congregations in 12 states and 2 Canadian provinces. The centennial celebration was dubbed "A Century of Grace- A Future of Hope."
