The installation of a pastor for the new Lake Mary Mission of the SELC District-Lutheran Church Missouri Synod took place at St. Luke's Lutheran Church on September 18, 1983, with a special service held at 4pm. Later that same year, the young pastor, Paul Hoyer,succeeded in activating the mission project. On September 9, 1984 a new congregation of 48 adults and 25 children was chartered as Holy Cross Lutheran Church. For some time, the congregation leased space in an office complex on Lake Mary Boulevard, but after acquiring 4 acres of land,began construction on its first sanctuary. In ensuing years, Holy Cross has experienced amazing growth, operates a successful school and has fostered other mission outreach programs in greater Central Florida.

Lee Crow, baseball player for the Jacksonville Tarpons
Black-and-white photograph of baseball player Lee Crow. He is standing in front of a wooden fence in a baseball uniform. The letter "J" can be seen on his hat. He played for Jacksonville in 1916, and for Sanford in the fall of that year. He then became the manager of the Sanford Celeryfeds. Crow played third base, played 107 games, had 349 at-bats with 73 hits, for a batting average of .209.
