Description/Abstract
The Learning Environment and Academic Research Network (LEARN) is a STEM living-learning community that provides early research experiences and layered mentoring within a small learning environment. One unique feature of the program is the formal involvement of graduate students as research mentors. Each year, twenty graduate mentors guide LEARN participants through a 12-week apprenticeship. Prior to the start of the apprenticeship, all graduate mentors attend an all-day training. Due to a lack of similar graduate training models, new ideas for training, structure, and assessment had to be developed. This presentation will review the training and assessment of the mentoring.
