Interacting with brain and fruits
Abstract
During this Experimental Track session, we will present a live interaction streaming of two interactive short films that use a brain-computer interface and a tangible interface. The first short film is “Chill out”; in this stressful story interactors will have to relax to progress in the story. Using an EEG headset tracking the relaxation indicators of the interactors’ mind, the story will ask the interactors to breathe in and sit comfortably if they want to get to a happy ending. One in-situ participant will be demonstrating the live interaction. The second film is “Tutti Frutti”, a fruity gossip. In this story, four fruits (apple, tangerine, banana and pear) will tell you their version of the happenings that occurred during a very messy party. To select a character, interactors must touch one physical fruit or another interacting through a tangible interface. During “Tutti Frutti” we will ask remote viewers to interact with the story: they will vote for their next fruit to tell the story, the most voted fruit will be “touched” by one of the in-situ assistants. The performance will be streamed through ZOOM; the live performance of both short films with a multicamera setting will show the screenshare of the films’ playback and the user interaction in real-time while experiencing the films. The session will conclude with a Q&A moment with the creators of the interactive short films.
