Description/Abstract

The federal grants landscape is transitioning into a more collaborative and competitive model. Funding agencies are awarding more grants to statewide consortiums as well as projects that will serve students across disciplines, making engaging external partners and seeking out new partnerships within one’s own institution vital to project development. This presentation will focus on the ways in which Seminole State College of Florida engaged faculty from both Biology and Economics to create a successful NSF IUSE proposal. Participants will learn best practices for developing similar relationships among faculty from various disciplines that will lead to projects aimed at furthering student motivation to take part in undergraduate research.
