Description

Generative AI is transforming education, but misaligned perceptions between instructors and students can hinder its ethical and effective use. This session shares findings from a qualitative study analyzing faculty and student rhetoric about AI, using fantasy theme and metaphor analysis to uncover areas of shared understanding, conflict, and collaboration. Drawing on instructional communication theories, we'll present practical strategies for fostering shared rhetorical visions of AI. Attendees will leave with actionable talking points and communication techniques to bridge divides, align expectations, and promote ethical, humanistic integration of AI in in-person, hybrid, and online classrooms.
