Develop critical AI literacy by evaluating and critiquing AI-generated responses.; Strengthen their understanding of statistical concepts by identifying errors, misconceptions, and limitations in AI solutions.; Practice metacognitive skills, including reflection on their own reasoning and comparison of human versus machine problem-solving.; Cultivate ethical and responsible AI use by learning when and how to rely on AI tools in academic contexts.
Strategy Description
Beat ChatGPT is a gamified assignment that positions AI as both a rival and a resource to foster critical AI literacy. Students either design statistics problems that ChatGPT is likely to answer incorrectly or critique flawed AI-generated solutions, then provide accurate responses and reflections. This strategy not only deepens disciplinary understanding but also equips students to engage with AI tools thoughtfully, ethically, and creatively.
