Learning Objectives

At the end of the activity, learners will:

  1. Apply AI tools to generate preliminary analyses of historical texts.
  2. Critically evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, bias, and interpretive depth.
  3. Revise and annotate AI-generated responses to reflect evidence-based historical reasoning.
  4. Demonstrate workforce readiness skills by integrating AI responsibly into academic problem-solving.

Strategy Description

This project integrates a custom-trained GPT model into undergrad U.S. History courses to support students in analyzing primary sources, evaluating historical perspectives, and bridging the gap into AI Literacy. Students use AI to generate draft responses, then critically review, annotate, and revise outputs, ensuring that human oversight fosters deeper historical thinking rather than passive acceptance of machine responses.
