Learning Objectives

1) to analyze themes across multiple Salvadoran texts with reference to contemporary social issues; 2) to critically evaluate AI-generated outlines as scaffolds for original literary analysis; 3) to develop ethical AI literacy by reflecting on the affordances and limitations of GenAI tools.

Strategy Description

The activity was structured into four phases: in the preparation phase, students built a common knowledge base by reading about Salvadoran social issues through literature. During the controlled and free tasks phase, students used GenAI tools to generate outlines, compare them with their own analyses, and refine their essays through brainstorming, drafting, and peer review. Finally, in the evaluation phase, students presented their work in a mock conference and reflected critically on AI’s usefulness, limitations, and ethical implications while demonstrating ownership of their interpretations.
